Kion Administration

Audience: Cloud Administrators and Platform Engineers.

Purpose: Manage Kion for cloud access and federation.

Logging In to Kion

TAMU users authenticate via Azure AD credentials.

Login Steps

  1. Navigate to kion.cloud.tamu.edu
  2. Click Log in using a service provider
  3. Select your @tamu.edu account
Account Selection

Different accounts may have different privileges and Cloud Access Roles. Select the appropriate account for your task.


Federating into AWS Accounts

Once logged in, you can federate into AWS accounts using Cloud Access Roles (CARs).

Federation Steps

Step-by-step Federation
  1. Navigate to Projects

    • From the sidebar, click Projects
  2. Select Account

    • Find the account you need to access
    • Click the dropdown cloud icon
  3. Choose Cloud Access Roles

    • Click Cloud Access Roles
  4. Select CAR

    • Choose the appropriate CAR from the list
    • Multiple CARs may be available with different permission levels
  5. Choose Access Type

    • Short-term Access Keys — For CLI/SDK access
    • Web Console — For AWS Console access
  6. Federate

    • You'll be federated into the AWS account with the selected role's permissions
